A recent crime wave in the Ross Barnett Reservoir area has left residents uneasy, with at least one subdivision creating a neighborhood watch as a result.

A new Neighborhood Watch group in the Preston community is cutting down on crime in the neighborhood.

There are 54 people on the roster of the Preston watch group, which started in September. At least 35 people usually attend each meeting, according to co-captain Cindy Donovant.

Kansas City Police are releasing two composite sketches of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 71-year-old woman multiple times Dec. 15.

At about 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15, a man confronted the woman in her home in the 3200 block of East 10th Street. He remained in her apartment and repeatedly sexually assaulted her over the course of several hours.

The victim worked with a forensic sketch artist and detectives to produce two sketches of the suspect: one of his face, and one of unique scarring on his left arm. He is described as a “wiry” black male approximately 35 to 40 years old who is about 6 feet tall and 165 to 175 pounds. He is bald but wore a black silk cloth tied around his head. He has a medium complexion, brown eyes, and a goatee and mustache. The victim said the suspect is soft-spoken and has a lower voice. He was wearing black clothing. He also has two scars on his left forearm that appeared to be from burns.

The Police Department’s Central Precinct is hosting a town meeting tonight at Temple Baptist Church.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the church, at 235 Harpersville Road, a police news release says.

Officers with Cincinnati Police's District Three announced plans Thursday to reduce the number of robberies in East Price Hill and West Price Hill.

Officers visited business and residences in the area to share crime prevention information and safety tips, and distributed leaflets in both English and Spanish

The county constabulary will also take questions from followers on Twitter to try to encourage people to learn more about this type of crime and make sure their computers are properly protected.

It's usually a quiet neighborhood. But now, nerves are rattled after a shooting left a local restaurant worker paralyzed.

SALISBURY — Rowan County law enforcement officials offered tips on Friday to keep children safe as they go trick-or-treating Monday.

Two robbers used Craigslist to lure a victim into an ambush outside a Houston restaurant earlier this month, police said, and now investigators are hoping the public can help track them down.

Police said the victim had placed an ad on Craigslist, looking to purchase an iPad. On Oct. 6, investigators said the thieves contacted the victim, saying they had two iPads for sale, and made arrangements to meet him at a restaurant in the 11600 block of the Southwest Freeway.
